Durbar

|
The
Durbar is usually organized during the two EID prayers or to honour important visitors. It is
mostly celebrated in all the Emirates of the state.

Tangra Festival

Observed annually, ritualistic in nature to celebrate the beginning of the dry season. A week
long ceremony organized in stages according to the number of clans

Sharo Festival
|
A cattle rearing Fulani
cultural festival, a strong willpower and perseverance test for age groups. The festival is
organized annually to initiate the young into manhood. It is legendary that: For a young man to
get married, he must undergo the ‘Sharo Test’ to prove he has really come of age.

Kamo Festival

|
Also
known as “AWAK cultural festival”, is observed annually in anticipation of bumper harvest to
mark the beginning of hunting season. The major highlight include dances by men and women
members of the Kamo community. The calendar is March/April annually

Yeku Festival

|
A traditional Tangale people’s
ceremony to mark and usher in the annual rainfall. It is marked by processions, merry-making,
dances and musical shows. It is celebrated around the months of June and July.

Bashari Festival
|
A Festival for the celebration
of the arrival of rainy season. Including musical and dancing groups by the sons and daughters
of Waja People, it is usually celebrated between April and May.

ILAR-ZHARE Festival

This
cultural festival is massively organized amont the Tera speaking people of Yamaltu/Deba Local
Government Area of the state, to mark and celebrate hardwork, abundance and peace at the end of
every harvest season. It is usually celebrated between November and
December

YILIN Festival
|
Also known as KWAMAH, a whole
week ceremony celebrating harvest with no religious inclination, celebrated by the Dadiya
People. Parades, dances and masquerades, Yilin is usually celebrated in August.

CHUGOTHE Festival

|
A
festival of expected bumper harvest, linked with early arrival of rains. An elaborate and
colourful festival is celebrated annually usually between April and
May
|

|
|
DAMBANG Festival
|
This is a unique and colourful
traditional dancing event, popular among the Pero people of Gombe state to mark a season of
peace, tolerance and togetherness in the community. Through the DAMBAMG ceremony quarrel,
fights and nasty languages are forbidden.

KURAM Festival

|
A
Ceremony of traditional dances and cultural displays, celebrated in December every year, it is
a bumper harvest celebration by the Tula people.

KAMO Hunting Festival

Kamo festival of the Kamo
community Kaltungo local government, also known as AWAK ‘Cultural Festival’. It includes dances
by men and women usually around March/April
